A spectacle from Oman
The Basel Tattoo The motto for 2023 is "Around the World". In addition to previously announced bands from New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and Europe, today we announced the participation of the Royal Cavalry and Royal Guard mounted band from Oman, The Combined Bands of the Royal Cavalry and the Royal Guard of Oman. Their participation can be described as a great attraction. The formation from the Near East last took part in an event on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's platinum anniversary.
After initial talks on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's jubilee in Windsor last year, at which Erik Julliard accompanied the Top Secret Drum Corps as a band leader, the idea of a performance on Basel Tattoo jointly developed and promoted. "The Basel Tattoo keeps building bridges between different countries and cultures and creates space where people from all over the world can come together to share their common passion for music. Thanks to our valuable relationships, we have been able to organize the Combined Bands of the Royal Cavalry and the Royal Guard of Oman for the Basel Tattoo to win in 2023. I'm looking forward to working with the Omanis and I'm convinced that their performance will be a highlight," says the producer Erik Julliard.
The Band of the Royal Cavalry and the Royal Guard of Oman have participated together in well-known events at home and abroad in the past. With her participation in Basel Tattoo In 2023 they are now facing another highlight. The royal formation of the Omani sultan consists of 50 wind musicians and bagpipe players and 46 horses. Discipline, creativity and musical diversity ensure an impressive performance on horseback. The participation of three band representatives at today's media conference in the Hotel Basel shows the professionalism and commitment of this formation and at the same time underlines the importance and charisma of the Basel Tattoo around the world.
