Basel Tattoo 2022: Successful anniversary show - more viewers

Brilliant musical performances, moments of goosebumps and spectacular shows: that was the anniversary show Basel Tattoo 2022. Tonight, the 1 participants said goodbye to thunderous applause and standing ovations from the audience for the last time. Those responsible can look back on an extremely successful festival week and were able to record an increase in visitors.

The excellent anniversary program under the motto "Swissness, royals and lots of bagpipe music" enthralled the audience during eleven performances. The highlights lined up seamlessly. The royal guards from Norway and Great Britain, the Swiss Army Central Band or the Presidential Guard from Bulgaria - they all shone with musical performances of the highest standard. The Top Secret Drum Corps put one on top of that. Her performance with amazing flail tricks and impressive precision was a stunner. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers rocked the arena while the Flings and Things Highland Dancers floated lightly through the wide arena. The Scottish act with 100 selected bagpipe players and passionate melodies such as "Going Home" or "Land of Light" offered emotional moments. The Air Force Honor Guard from the USA also presented themselves magnificently. Her remarkable interludes amazed the audience, many held their breath. The Kumudini Homes School Band from India, the traditional Les Armaillis and the soloists Cameron Barns and Conal McDonagh rounded off a fantastic year. The grand finale with everyone involved made for a great final bouquet with songs like "Amazing Grace" or "Scotland the Brave". In recognition of their outstanding performance, the performers received a standing ovation and thunderous applause each evening.

"That Basel Tattoo is back. The joy of the event was huge among the audience, the participants and the helpers. Throughout the week, there was an excellent atmosphere throughout the tattoo site,” says the overwhelmed producer Erik Julliard and adds: “Our efforts have been rewarded. We were able to sell 86% of the tickets. In addition, there were 130 spectators at the parade and countless spectators on Tattoo Street. The anniversary 000 years Basel Tattoo was a great success."

The Band of Her Majesty's The Welsh Guards, a formation of the British Queen, set the first royal note. Under the direction of Major Lauren Petritz-Watts, the royal musicians shone with the anthem "Land of Hope and Glory" - pure chicken skin! Impressive was the performance of the second royal formation, His Majesty The King's Guard Band and Drill Team from Norway. They shone with amazing figures, great music and acrobatic shows by the drill team - the audience held their breath. The Swiss Army Central Band, announced as the "national team" of brass band music, exceeded expectations. Their high musical quality was clearly expressed in the pieces "Child's Anthem" and "Ashokan Farewell". As if this wasn't fantastic enough, the makers of the Basel Tattoo on top of that and served the audience the Top Secret Drum Corps. "Here you are at home" they were announced by the speaker, the audience went wild. What the drums presented this year was top class drumming and a show spectacle at the highest level - unique!

After this potpourri of fabulous music and remarkable choreography, framed by spectacular interludes, the finale of all the participants and the indispensable Lone Piper rounded off a wonderful evening. «Schwingerlüt in Schwizerland», «Amazing Grace», the «Basler Marsch» and last but not least «The Basel Tattoo Helpers' March” – as a homage to the many helpers in the background – made for a memorable final bouquet of an impressive anniversary show. The audience thanked him with a standing ovation.
