Royal Presidential congratulations to Adolf Ogi on his 80th birthday

A delegation of 15 musicians from the Basel Tattoo traveled to Kandersteg this morning to congratulate former Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi on his 80th birthday. With a "Ständeli" they have him the very best congratulations Basel Tattoo delivered. The surprise was successful, Adolf Ogi and his guests were visibly touched.

A fantastic backdrop and wonderful weather awaited them Basel Tattoo Delegation in Kandersteg, the hometown of former Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi. The bagpipe players, wind musicians, drummers and highland dancers from different countries were enthusiastic about the beautiful Swiss mountains. Among them representatives of the Royal Guard from Norway, the Welsh Guards - a band of the British Queen, the US Honor Guard from Washington DC and the Presidential Guard from Bulgaria. The drums of the Top Secret Drum Corps as well as an alphorn player of the Swiss Army Central Band could not be missing. The formation marched with a “mini tattoo” and honored the former head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The DDPS has been the patron of the for over 10 years Basel Tattoo and just a few weeks ago, the partnership was extended by another five years. After the official greeting by a representative of the Basel Tattoo Productions GmbH followed at the end of the joint appearance with the obligatory congratulatory song "Happy Birthday". Adolf Ogi, accompanied by his family, and his approximately 50 guests were enthusiastic and appreciated the friendly campaign of the Basel Tattoo with great applause.
