Für die Bands ist das Basel Tattoo inzwischen so attraktiv, dass sie sich selber um eine Teilnahme bewerben. Nur die besten militärischen und nicht-militärischen Formationen werden ausgewählt, um jedes Jahr eine mit Highlights gespickte Show zu präsentieren.
